The many-times-postponed visit with my granddaughter (and her parents) finally happened last week, and now I'm flying to Chicago to visit my nephew and his family this week. I decided (without much struggle) to relax between these two jaunts instead of clocking a ton of desk time trying to get that new website of mine finished. This is a new and more relaxed me, and I like it!
Last time I saw Mila she was just starting to walk
Now she’s running. She's almost 16 months old and she’s in the move. We went out to eat twice, and I spent most of the time chasing her. Up and down hallways. In and out of doors. I’m thrilled that I was able to keep up, given my iffy stamina and endurance.
We spent a beautiful day at the beach — see the video.
Preparing to fly — second time in five years
I don’t love flying anymore. I live far from a big airport. Last time I flew during the pandemic was really stressful, but I'm hoping this trip will be easier. Fingers crossed! But I am looking forward to the adventure of this trip to Chicago, where my grandniece Bina is turning two this weekend. I'll enjoy time with her and her parents and explore a new city and be a tourist.
Garden therapy
In the week between jaunts, besides planning for the next trip, I’ve been spending a lot of time in my garden. I'm tending to my cannabis plants, tomatoes, and greens. This year, I've got a solar drip irrigation system going, which is a first for me. I love sitting in my old straw chair, basking in the peace of my tiny garden, feeding my plants, and keeping them healthy.
Community connection
Aging is hard, and the third third of life brings a ton of challenges. But we don't have to do this alone. Like redwoods growing in a circle to lean on each other for support, we can lean on each other to reduce stress and increase peace. Sharing these moments helps build our community, reminding us that we're not alone in our experiences. It boosts our self-confidence, productivity, and happiness. I want to hear from you. What’s inspiring you? What have you walked through that you’d like to share? Let’s celebrate each moment and each other.
